What Is a Peristaltic Pump?
Peristaltic pumps are rotating positive displacement pumps that require minimal maintenance because they have only one wearing part – a hose.
How does a peristaltic pump work? The pumped product is forced through the hose by external mechanical force on the hose. The hose, which is supported by the housing of the pump head, is clamped by rollers that rotate on a rotor. As the rotors turn, the pinch-off point progresses along the hose and propels the conveyed product forward. The hose’s elasticity generates the suction vacuum.
Peristaltic Pump Advantages
Because of their robust design, PERIPRO peristaltic pumps are suitable for aggressive and abrasive products with a solids content of up to 70 percent. The design of an industrial peristaltic pump also makes it insensitive to dry running. Each PERIPRO hose pump is engineered to provide extremely high suction capacity with a minimal amount of maintenance.
Industrial peristaltic pumps are uniquely suited to many applications because they also:
- provide a consistent rate of displacement
- allow accurate dosing
- offer superior performance with viscous and abrasive media
- easily transfer slurries, pastes and sludges, and are compatible with all types of media
- transfer sensitive products gently
- perform precisely in extreme conditions
These corrosion-resistant and hygienic hose pumps also guarantee you the highest metering accuracy.
When you compare peristaltic pump vs diaphragm pump, the main difference is that a hose pump does not require any valves or mechanical seals, which are high-wearing parts. The only wearing part for a hose pump is the hose, which is easily replaceable.
PERIPRO Hose Pump Features

Peristaltic Hose Pump Types
Kerr is a PERIPRO distributor in Michigan for the following PERIPRO solutions
INDUSTRIAL PERISTALTIC PUMPS
Industrial peristaltic pumps are designed to transfer any type of abrasive, corrosive, viscous, or delicate media. These industrial peristaltic pumps are capable of pumping up to 0.75 gpm and handling discharge pressures of 145 psi.
PERIPRO peristaltic pumps are available in a range of sizes. Low-flow-rate pumps are perfect for dosing chemicals, additives, lime milk, activated carbon, and polymers due to the accurate flow-rate control. All are easy to assemble, operate, and maintain. PERIPRO hose pumps maximize efficiency while minimizing downtime and maintenance costs.
FOOD GRADE PERISTALTIC PUMPS
Food grade peristaltic pumps are sanitary, heavy duty pumps that simplify clean-in-place (CIP) processes.
