Kerr Pump & Supply provides cooling towers, parts, and service used in a variety of industries. We custom tailor cooling tower solutions to your application and space requirements. Using our knowledge of cooling towers, we can assist with sizing and selecting the most efficient cooling tower for your application.

Kerr Pump & Supply is your source for evaporative cooling towers. We offer induced draft and forced draft towers, with a full range of options to fit your site conditions, such as anti-freeze and low sound packages.

Some of our most popular cooling towers are anti-microbial cooling towers that minimize the risk of Legionella colonization. These anti-microbial cooling towers are designed to withstand the most aggressive chemical treatments. Anti-microbial HDPE resin is fully compounded throughout the tower shell to resist biofilm growth. In addition, the tower fill and drift eliminator are made from anti-microbial compounded PVC or PP to impede microorganism growth, prevent fouling, and resist biofilm growth.

Cooling Tower Types

Industrial cooling towers are tall, open-topped, structures use water to cool equipment for industrial or HVAC comfort cooling processes.

Types include:

  • natural draft cooling towers, which rely on natural convection to circulate air throughout the tower, which then cools the water.
  • mechanical draft cooling towers, which use fans or other mechanics to circulate air through the tower

Mechanical draft cooling towers are either crossflow towers or counterflow cooling towers. In a crossflow tower, air flows horizontally through the cooling tower’s structure

while hot water flows downward from distribution basins. Counterflow cooling towers move air upward through the tower while water flows downward to cool the air.

Cooling Tower Efficiency

Generally, efficiency is related to the type of airflow used within the unit.

  • Crossflow or forced draft towers distribute hot water perpendicularly to the airflow, and are less efficient.
  • Counterflow or induced draft towers distribute hot water directly into the airflow, and are considered the most efficient type of cooling tower. Counterflow towers also keep the cooling media out of sunlight, preventing bacterial issues like Legionnaires’ disease. However, counterflow towers can be taller, and may not be an optimal solution for sites with height restrictions.

Engineered Plastic Materials of Construction

Although metals or fiberglass have historically been used for cooling towers, engineered plastic cooling towers such as those made by Delta offer several advantages. A corrosion-proof one-piece shell or casing eliminates the issues associated with seams, welds, and patches. The result is a light weight, high capacity, high efficiency tower. Corrosion and rust proof engineered plastic towers offer longer lifecycles, and require no preventative maintenance.

Cooling Tower Markets

Cooling towers are used in a variety of markets as an efficient means to remove excess heat.

  • Steel mills, oil refineries, food processing and other industrial processes generate waste heat during production, so cooling towers are used for industrial process cooling.
  • Power plants use cooling towers to prevent systems from overheating when the electricity production produces excess heat.
  • Medical, commercial, and industrial HVAC systems use cooling towers to maintain optimal indoor temperatures.

Cooling Tower Manufacturer

Kerr Pump & Supply partners with Delta Cooling Towers, a leader among evaporative cooling tower manufacturers. Delta Cooling Towers is known for their one-piece shell or casing, which eliminates issues with seams, welds, and patches. These evaporative cooling towers offer longer lifecycles because they are rust and corrosion proof. In addition, low sound and other special options are available to help decrease the problem of noise pollution of commercial HVAC equipment.
